This one day course will raise the Officer’s awareness of the threats posed by the common knife or other edged weapon. An Officer carries several different tools as auxiliary weapons or options in order to effectively deal with different levels of resistance and/or threat. He/she is trained and certified with OC Pepper Spray, the baton, firearms and in arrest control tactics. Approximately 95% of Officers carry some type of folding knife on them on-duty or off. This class will teach you the capabilities of this second deadly force option and certify you in its use. We will use special training knives in active training scenarios to build your confidence in the knife as an effective defensive and offensive tool and secondary deadly force option. This course will help the Officer better identify knife threats before they manifest into a physical threat and help protect the individual Officer and the agency from liability.
